November 2020

Due to the extended Hallowe’en break hockey will continue until the beginning of December. Please make sure your child wears trainers on Thursdays.

On Wednesday 4th November we participated in UK Parliament week by voting for the film we wanted to watch in our Into Film Club. Check out the photos on the website.

For Anti-bullying week (16th – 20th November) we will be having a special online assembly from the NSPCC. We will be thinking about how to be kind to each other in school and at home, and how to look after ourselves.

It is also Road Safety Week 16th November to 22nd November and we will be doing lots of activities to promote the importance of road safety skills. Please reinforce this with your children at home.

On Friday 6th and 13th November the P1 children will be staying until 2.30pm for our Into Film Club. Please note: from Monday 23rd November the P1 children will be staying to 2.30pm every day.

We will be thinking about the poppy and remembrance during November. On Friday 13th November we will have a ‘Red Day’ in school. Children can come to school dressed in red. Please send a £2 donation which we will send to the Royal British Legion.

We have a very exciting event in school on Wednesday 11th November. The Into Film Awards ceremony will be streamed as an online event at 9.30am. This is in place of the ceremony in London that we were invited to in March but which was cancelled due to Covid-19. As nominated finalists in the Into Film Club of the Year (age 11 and under) we are thrilled that the ceremony will go ahead remotely. Please go to the website to see the amazing trailer produced for our school to remind you how wonderful our children are.

Due to Department of Education guidance the parent/teacher interviews cannot take place face to face. We are holding phone interviews and this will also include translators where required. The week 16th- 20th November the children will go home at 1.30pm every day to allow time for the interviews. You will be given an approximate time for the phone call next week.

All children are now using Seesaw in school as an additional learning platform. We have been putting homeworks and reading on for children to do at home. Almost all children have logged on from home. This is an online platform that will also be very useful if there is a need in the future to return to remote learning.

Seesaw also has a family app which parents download to their phone and this is a communication tool which translates messages from school into the home language on the phone. We can send information and photos during the day of your child, and we think this is very helpful. We have sent links and messages to the parent phone numbers but still have parents who have not connected. Please check your messages and click the link to the Seesaw Family app.
